A young man killed in a crash on a private property in the state’s South East has been remembered as a loving and doting father, his distraught partner says.

Lachlan Letton, 24, died when he lost control and crashed into a tree on a private property at Western Flat, about 56km north of Naracoorte, around 2.50pm Sunday.

Paramedics rushed to the scene but the young man could not be saved.

Mr Letton left behind his partner, Tilly, and their one-year-old daughter, Maisy.

“He was the most loving and doting father to his little girl Maisy,” Ms Maye said.

“I have never felt love like his from anyone, he was truly a special man.”

Mr Letton’s father Steve took to Facebook on Monday to share the distressing news.

“Yesterday we lost this legend while he was doing what he loved most, riding his dirt bike,” Steve wrote.

“Lachlan Letton was a dedicated and talented rider, but more importantly, he was a loved member of our family and the community.

“We would like to thank everyone who has already reached out to us during this devastating time.”

Tributes are flowing on social media for the young man, who loved motorcycles and dirt bikes.

“You will be missed mate,” one man wrote.

“My heart is broken for you Tilly, sending the biggest hugs,” a woman said.

It’s the second tragedy for the region in as weeks, after a woman died at Mt Light, south of Naracoorte.

The driver crashed and caught fire on Caves Rd on July 23.

The victim, a Naracoorte woman, 25, died at the scene.

It follows a similar crash on a private property in Maude, northwest of Morgan, in September last year,

Braiden Schiller, 25, hit a pothole on his dirt bike while herding goats and died at the scene.

It was later revealed the diesel mechanic was on a first date at the time of his death.
