The hunt for South Australia’s cutest dog for 2023 is now over, with one pooch taking home this year’s prestigious title.
So who is a good boy?
The charming groodle, Junior from Tennyson, has been crowned the winner of The Advertiser’s SA’s Cutest Dogs competition, which garnered more than 800 entries from across the state.
As the competition short-listed to 100 strong contenders, Junior ultimately amassed the most public votes.
Owner Tamara Logozzo said the one-and-half-year-old “beautiful groodle,” was “one of a kind”.
Ms Logozzo says the family, including her son-in-law Peter and her almost two-year-old grandchild hunter, are “very happy, but not surprised that Junior won because everyone “love(s) him”.
“He’s a very spoiled dog. It’s very good for the family (and) it’s cool. We’re really happy,” Ms Logozzo said.
“He’s a very gentle giant dog. He looks scary but he’s not, he’s very friendly, he’s really good with my grandson’s. Everyone that meets him, just falls in love,” she said.
She described Junior as a gentle giant, that is often easily scared, but is a “kind, loving, goofy dog” and “baffles (everyone) with his gentle and kind nature”.
“He’s a scaredy-cat (and he) get’s scared of everything, which you wouldn’t know looking at the big beautiful beast that he is. It’s funny (and) cute”.
Ms Logozzo explained that he family got Junior around February last year, after their previous 16-year-old family dog passed away, “a couple of years ago (because) of old age”.
“It took a long time for me to get another dog, but once I saw the pictures of him I just fell in love and knew that he would fir our family perfectly,” Ms Logozzo said.
“I didn’t think another dog would be able to, (fill-the-void) but he definitely has”.
She says Junior is a “simple” dog, that enjoys “driving in (her) car, going for walks, going to the park and running around with (her) husband, chasing balls and playing with other dogs”.
