The hunt for South Australia’s cutest pooch for 2023 is now over, and one charismatic and charming hound has won the most hearts.
From over 800 entries, only 100 doggos made the short-list and fiercely competed for the title of The Advertiser’s Cutest Dog of 2023.
One pup has garnered the most votes and will be taking home the prestigious title of best in state – but which boy or girl is it?
Hang in tight, the winner will be announced shortly.
Earlier this week, The Advertiser revealed the 11 pups that were leading the votes and why their owners thought they deserve the crown.

“Scout is a ball of love and chaos covered in fur,” owner Jessica Brook wrote.
“She has wanted to befriend every living creature she’s ever met, including the pigeons that live on our neighbour’s roof.
“She loves her favourite toy, a golden retriever plushie from Ikea named Namu, stealing socks to start a game of chasey, and turning on the puppy eyes whenever there’s food”.
ROSCO, PROSPECT
Tik Tok handle: @poppymac100
“Rosco is full of life and is an absolute character,” owner Celeste Frost wrote.
“Rosco is a 14 week old brown labrador that has bounded into everyone’s hearts, even when he is being naughty. He loves chasing birds, his Bob-A-Lot with food, and harassing our 13 year old labrador, who he has totally won over.
“He loves long walks with Poppy, his monkey that he sleeps with every night, puppy school, socialising with other pups and humans and belly rubs.
“When Rosco is trying hard to be a good boy and listen, he cocks his head from side-to-side, (and when he) drinks water, his whole face goes into the bowl (then) he emerges five seconds later absolutely drenched.”
COLIN, PROSPECT
Instagram handle: @littlecorgicolin
“Colin is the happiest little Corgi on earth, and loves spreading joy and cuddles to everyone he meets,” owner Ruth Pickles said.
“His favourite things are cucumbers, mum’s shoes, running through grass taller than him, and playing with all his friends at doggy daycare.
“He lights up every room he enters and greets everyone with a smile and waggy tail. He can’t seem to catch up to his ever-growing ears, but that just means he can hear how much everyone loves him all that clearer.
“While mum and dad are working Colin heads over to Nonno’s house next door for some pats and biscuits, but still needs a hand getting up and down stairs with his little legs.”
RUPERT, O’HALLORAN HILL

“Rupert loves love. Snuggling and belly rubs are essential to his day,” owner Bec Garret said.
“But his most favourite activity is squeezing out the cat-door to steal cat food”.
KODIE, NAIRNE
Kodie’s owner Charlii May said they “fell in love” with the “adventurous border collie,” the “moment they saw her”.
“She lives up to her name as she loves the farm life. The paddocks are her happy place chasing, cows, sheep and (she) even has a friend, Mr Emu who is best friends with Kodie,” she wrote.
“She gets up to so many adventures her favourite (being) chasing the motorbikes. She is cheeky, loyal, energetic and altogether a beautiful dog. Just look at that face, she has this effect on most people.”
MAXI, SEAFORD MEADOWS

Owner Kathryn Galloway said Maxi, a 9-month-old pup born in Yankalilla, was “cuddly and boisterous, sweet and crazy”.
“His motto is: have ball, will play. He’s obsessed with any ball and wakes up the house by dropping a ball on pillows, she wrote.
“He has a few tricks and is eager to please. His ears, once folded triangles, are now stood upright and twitch when he hears a familiar word.
“He chose us a month after we lost our girl Luci, and he has filled the hearts of a grieving family.”
OSCAR, MOUNT GAMBIER
Owner Joanne Wright said when Oscar was a puppy, they “found (him) wandering on the outskirts of Mount Gambier, narrowly escaping being run over” in 2012.
She said the “very well trained” pup appeared to have been “well cared for”, but “was not microchipped”.
Now almost 13 years old, Oscars’ owners have “exhausted efforts” to find his original home, but would “love to know his original story”.
“Oscar is a very quiet dog whose outwardly serene demeanour belies an independent personality and a quick intelligence. He takes life in his stride, observing everything and reacting with unusual calm in all situations,” she wrote.
“He regularly attends work with both (me and) my husband, delighting staff at my husband’s office, and staff and residents at the aged care facility where I am employed. It’s always a happy day when Oscar visits and he enjoys cruising around, sharing his time.
“Outings with Oscar usually involve being stopped by people from all walks of life, asking if they can pet him or take his photo. We frequently hear that he is ‘the cutest dog ever’ and comments that he has ‘made their day’.
“He has retained his youthful good looks and universal appeal, although he’s sometimes mistaken for a cat,” she wrote.
THEODORE, MONARTO SOUTH
Instagram handle: @theodore_the_snag
Owner Tess Williams said Theodore just celebrated his second birthday, and had garnered over 14k Instagram followers.
“Theodore is the cheekiest, most opinionated sausage dog in Adelaide,” she wrote.
“He holds the current title for the fastest snag in the north, as (the) winner of the first official dachshund race at the Prospect fair.
“Theodore likes to spend his time with his family snoozing on the couch, playing with his sausage sister Miss Bean and stealing socks.”
JUNIOR, TENNYSON
Owner Tamara Logozzo said the one-and-half-year-old “beautiful groodle,” was “one of a kind.”
“He is our kind, loving, goofy family dog and everyone who meets him is baffled by his gentle and kind nature,” she wrote.
“Everyone falls in love with (Junior) as soon as they meet him.”
ALORA, CEDUNA
“Alora is a 15 week old pure Golden Retriever that loves dressing up in style, going for long luxury walks and having a cuddle with mum, dad and sister,” owner Aimee Beattie wrote.
“At the moment, Alora’s favourite thing is her lamby teddy, which she has to be carried everywhere.”
