It’s enough to leave you shaken and maybe a little stirred. A new cocktail has been launched at SkyCity Adelaide’s Westward bar and it comes with a mind-blowing $2000 price tag.
A twist on the classic champagne cocktail, the drink features Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac, which is priced at about $4300 a bottle, and 2009 vintage Dom Perignon, which sells for about $250-$300.
Designed for a minimum of six people, the showstopping drink, A Night in Épernay, is believed to be South Australia’s most expensive cocktail, and Westward’s venue manager Greg Perrot said it will help put “SkyCity on the map”.
“I wanted to do something exceptional... all around the world in all the best bars, they all have a great experience cocktail, I wanted to do that here,” said Mr Perrot, who has worked in five-star hotels around Europe.
“We are not here to take their money, we are here to make them feel comfortable, welcome and make them feel like it’s worth it for an experience like that.
Mr Perrot said the cocktail will be prepared at your table by the bartender and includes an in-depth explanation of the “story behind the drink”.
“I always wanted to have a cocktail that is an experience for the customer,” he said.
“We needed something different with champagne that people can celebrate, maybe an event, a big win... and one they can share all together.”
Released to coincide with Thursday’s World Cocktail Day, the drink is one of six new high-end cocktails available at Westward, which range in price from $50 to $345.
“I will be happy to sell one a year... we do have a full range of cocktails for those regular customers,” Mr Perrot said.
