A new speak-easy-style cocktail and whisky bar will open above an award-winning Adelaide hotel later this month.
Bar 1854, on the first floor of the Cremorne Hotel, Unley Road, will draw inspiration from Parisian cocktail lounges and late-night Japanese bars when it launches on November 22.
The Duxton Pubs Group venue will serve up rare Japanese whiskies, vintage Champagne, world-class cocktails and a range of small plates from executive chef Brendan Boothroyd.
Venue manager Grace Kelliher said the stylish, dimly-lit bar, which seats a maximum of 30 people, was unlike anything in Adelaide.
“It’s the best of Paris, New York, Melbourne, and Tokyo, uniquely mixed to create a signature bar for Adelaide,” she said.
“This is a place for people to have fun and enjoy a curated experience with personalised service and a rotating list of rare, aged, and crafted drinks.”
Coffin Bay oysters, Kaviari Caviar Oscietra Prestige, and brie and kimchi toasties will be among the small plates on the late-night snacking menu.
The bar’s name pays homage to the dual-level Cremorne – named the best hotel in the country at last November’s AHA national awards night – which poured its first drink in 1854.
Founded in 2020, Duxton Pubs also owns The Lion Hotel and The Brompton Hotel, among its stable of venues.
