Beer garden, playground, sports bar: Payneham Tavern in Adelaide unveils $3.6m renovation

A popular pub in Adelaide’s east has reopened for business after a multimillion-dollar renovation to improve its facilities.

A new beer garden and improved sports bar has been unveiled at a popular eastern suburbs pub after it underwent a huge $3.6m redevelopment.

The Payneham Tavern, at 319 Payneham Rd, reopened to the public on Monday following its makeover, which now also includes an outdoor kids’ playground and “refreshed” bistro.

Manager Nick Sando said he hoped the upgraded venue would quickly become a favourite within the Payneham community.

“We’re so excited to welcome our community back to their new-look local just in time for summer,” Mr Sando said.

Sports fans will be treated to games of pool or darts, as well as live sport on a new state-of-the-art LED theatre inside the improved sports bar.

A freshly curated food menu has also been designed within the redevelopment, including fried chicken tenders, a selection of pizzas, schnitzels, salt & pepper squid, Wagyu beef burgers and a braised lamb and pinot pie. Dedicated kids’ menu and seniors’ menu will also be available to order from.

Weekly specials will be on offer for patrons, as well as multiple giveaways beginning next month.

Monday – Friday:Happy Hour (4-6pm) with $7.50 house wines and $8.50 select pints, available via the pubs The Pass loyalty app.

Wednesday:Local Heroes initiative, with $1 from every parmi sold donated to Novita, a leading disability support charity.

Thursday:Quiz Night from 7pm.

Friday:Tradie Club BBQ from 4-5pm with $5 pints of Hahn Super Dry, via the pubs The Pass loyalty app. Live music from 7pm.

Saturday:Live horse racing on brand-new LED theatre screen in the sports bar, plus live music from 7pm.

Sunday:Family Sundays (12-3pm) with rotating kids’ entertainment like face painters and balloon artists, followed by live acoustic music at 2pm.

To celebrate the launch, the pub is giving all 18+ patrons who spend $20 or more on food and drinks the chance to win one of five 75” smart TVs. The winner will be drawn every Saturday at 6pm in the bistro from 2nd-30th November.
