Sydney nightclub identity John Ibrahim appears to be taking a hands-on approach to the telling of his story on the small screen.

The 52-year-old was snapped on set of The Last King of the Cross with actor Lincoln Younes, who is playing the character of John Ibrahim in the series inspired by his autobiography.

Younes, 30, bears a striking resemblance to Ibrahim when he was that same age.

Ibrahim is an executive producer on the project.

The 10-part one hour episode series has been shooting mostly in Sydney’s west with Mason Mansour and Malek Alkoni playing Ibrahim as a young child and then a teenager.

Barons star Younes is the adult Ibrahim.

The series spans from 1970s Lebanon, moving to Australia as a poverty-stricken migrant with no education to Ibrahim’s meteoric rise to Australia’s most infamous nightclub mogul, or King of the Cross as he is widely known.

Former Home And Away heart-throb Younes has previously spoken of landing the high profile job.

“This is a larger than life story and I’m proud to be part of it,” he has said after being hand-picked by Ibrahim himself.

“Kings Cross was Sydney’s most iconic melting pot of entertainment and I can’t wait for it to be brought to life on TV. Spanning decades, Last King Of The Cross is intergenerational, and I am so looking forward to bringing the character of John Ibrahim to screen alongside both Mason and Malek.”

Also in the cast are Callan Mulvey, Tess Haubrich, Matt Nable and Damian Walshe-Howling.

Tim Roth was announced last week to replace Ian McShane as the lead antagonist, Ezra Shipman.

The TV drama will screen on Paramount+ with international distribution set up by Cineflix Rights. It is being produced by Mark Fenessy and Karl Zwicky with Kieran Darcy-Smith on-board as writer and director.
