British actor Tim Roth has joined the cast of John Ibrahim TV drama Last King of the Cross after Deadwood star Ian McShane was forced to pull out of the production.

McShane, 79, was to play the lead antagonist, Ezra Shipman in the 10-part series that is based on Ibrahim’s book of the same name and will detail his life as a nightclub mogul in Sydney’s Kings Cross.

Roth, 61, has stepped in to play Shipman after fellow Brit McShane cited health reasons for not being able to come to Australia.
