Secret Sounds co-CEO and festival producer Jessica Ducrou said Harvest Rock would bring “both iconic and hot new international artists from around the world to downtown Adelaide, alongside an abundance of incredible talent from our own shores”.

“Presenting South Australia’s best-in-show food and wine offerings including cellar-door pop-ups, a mash-ups of chefs and musicians on our Feastiville Stage and Little Harvest for the kids, we’re excited to provide a festival with many different facets.

“We’re planning a good old-fashioned get-together – with great music, food and wine.”

Taking aim at a more mature demographic than festivals past, Harvest Rock will also host a VIP Village, special Golden Suites overlooking the Harvest Stage and a Little Harvest zone to keep the kids entertained while their parents enjoy the music.

It wasn’t the easiest of runs for the festival, which is based on the BottleRock festivals held in California’s Napa Valley.

The location – across both Rymill and King Rodney parks – was almost scuttled at the last minute by an Adelaide City Council decision to block plans to close Bartels Road for the festival.

Ms Ducrou told a special council meeting earlier this month her company stood to lose $5m if Bartels Rd was not closed, prompting the state government to intervene under the Major Events Act.

Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison has used special powers to close the road by declaring Harvest Rock as a major event.

The main stage is expected to be the same structure that will be used for the Adelaide 500 after-race concerts, which include The Killers, Jimmy Barnes, Icehouse, Noiseworks and The Presets. Under its major event declaration, Bartels Rd will be closed from 10am on Friday, November 18, until 11.59pm on Monday, November 21.

The road will remain open for only four days until it is closed again on Friday, November 25, until Tuesday, December 6, for the Adelaide 500.
