Prince Harry’s heartbreaking interview from The Me You Can’t See resurfaces

Days after Meghan’s first public appearance in the UK in over two years, a clip of Prince Harry revealing his wife’s heartbreaking struggle has resurfaced.

Harry feared he would ‘lose Meghan’ and that she would end up like Diana

All eyes were on Meghan and Harry as the couple made their first public appearance with Prince William and Kate in more than two years on Saturday.

Their interaction with the crowds mourning the Queen was carefully scrutinised for signs of tension, with footage of Meghan being snubbed by members of the public emerging, as well as a moment during which some accused the Duchess of appearing “passive aggressive” while talking to a royal aide.

As the couple face the British press again, royal watchers online have been reminded of why they fled to the US in the first place, with Harry’s emotional confession regarding his wife’s mental health resurfacing on Twitter.

The clip, from last year’s Apple TV+ documentary The Me You Can’t See hosted by Harry and Oprah Winfrey, saw the prince speak candidly about the struggles they faced as a new couple, referencing the Daily Mail’s headline describing Meghan as “almost straight outta Compton”.

He went on to reveal Meghan battled suicidal thoughts as she grappled with her new life as a member of the royal family, claiming she received little support from those around them.

“We would get followed, photographed, chased, harassed,” he said of their beginnings.

“The clicking of cameras and the flashing of cameras makes my blood boil, it makes me angry, it takes me back to what happened to my mum.

“I felt completely helpless … Every single ask, request, warning … Just got met with total silence or total neglect. We spent four years trying to make it work, we did everything that we possibly could to stay there and carry on doing the role and doing the job, but Meghan was struggling,” he revealed of his family’s response to their complaints.

Harry then recalled a charity event at the Royal Albert Hall, when Meghan was six months pregnant.

He said earlier that evening, Meghan had opened up about experiencing suicidal thoughts, which went as far as contemplating “the practicalities of how she was going to end her life”.

“In the quiet of night, these thoughts woke her up,” he said.

“The thing that stopped her from seeing it through, was how unfair it would be on me, after everything that had happened with my mum.”

Admitting he was “ashamed” of how he dealt with Meghan’s revelation, Harry said they couldn’t get out of their commitment at the Royal Albert Hall, so they just had a “quick hug” and made their way to the event, during which Meghan quietly cried when the lights went down.

“My biggest regret is not making more of a stance earlier on in my relationship with my wife and calling out the racism,” the 37-year-old Duke of Sussex said.

“History was repeating itself, my mother was chased to her death while she was in a relationship with someone that wasn’t white.”

Posting the clip to Twitter, Yahoo news correspondent Nadine Batchelor-Hunt said, “I’ve never seen this before and it makes the hounding of them by the British tabloids even more grotesque.”

The tweet is gaining traction with over 40k retweets and 193.3k likes and counting, with many asking for details on the documentary which aired in May last year.

Renewed interest in the documentary comes after Meghan made an unexpected appearance alongside Harry and his estranged brother, Prince William, and his wife Kate Middleton outside Windsor Castle on Saturday.

It later emerged that the surprise reunion came about following a text from Prince William to Prince Harry, inviting he and Meghan to join the Cambridges on their walkabout.

A senior Palace source told The Sun: “The Prince of Wales invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join him and the Princess of Wales earlier.

“The Prince of Wales thought it was an important show of unity for the Queen at an incredibly difficult time for the family.”

However, just days earlier, King Charles reportedly ordered Harry not to bring Meghan to Balmoral to say goodbye to his grandmother as he and other senior royals rushed to the Queen’s bedside.

“Charles made it very, very clear Meghan would not be welcome,” a source told The Sun.

The Queen died before Harry arrived, with the announcement of her passing made while he was still in transit.
