The Peacock, Gluttony
Until March 21
The talented team is back with a new show set in a restaurant.
It’s a clever way to freshen up the offering and show circus skills in a different light. Spinning plates are topped with treats, hula hoops add spices and seasoning, and table water bottles become musical instruments.
Our host, waitress Jane introduces the menu and explains how to show appreciation, encouraging children to clap and share their joy.
The Peacock at Gluttony is a much bigger venue, which gives Jane plenty of room to climb, twist and tumble with aerial silks.
Performing in a big dark tent also adds a new dimension to the show, where shadows of juggling batons dance on the roof.
Unfortunately the orange spotlight on the mute musician was so bright we had to look away or shield our eyes.
One child in the audience even put sunglasses on.
Still, Chris managed to shine, with slapstick humour eliciting cascades of giggles from the little ones. They left asking for more.
