There is nothing more refreshing than hearing jokes about dried-up old vaginas after three weeks of listening to male comedians talk about their d*cks.
I’m serious.
Powerhouse queens of Oz comedy Denise Scott and Judith Lucy are a welcome breath of fresh air this Fringe, bringing with them part-play, part-stand-up-act Still Here as an homage to their journey through Melbourne’s wine-fuelled year of lockdowns.
From the plight of living as shamelessly hirsute women while the beauticians have been forced to close, to the empowerment of blissful bra-free days and a welcome vibrator recommendation for the crowd (thanks!), Jude and Scotty are masters at what they do.
And that’s provide a bold voice for women in comedy that’s not only oh-so relatable but downright entertaining.
A few lulls in punchlines can be forgiven by their incredible chemistry as a duo, not to mention the sheer joy they radiate from the stage as they return to what they’re both born to do: Perform.
It’s wickedly dry and undeniably clever. A great choice for a girl’s night out.
