Of all the shows to take your teenage son to, this is a winner. It’s all about decks.
Magician Dom Chambers has had decks (of cards) on the brain since he was a youngster and has devoted his life to the art of illusion.
He’s pretty darn good at it, too. It takes practise (and lots of it) to reach this level of skill.
Luckily for Chambers, he also has bags of charisma. As he works his way through card tricks, he does so with cheeky, laddish charm and a lovely rapport with audience members brave enough to join him on stage.
You may recognise his grin; he was on television shows America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Broadway’s The Illusionists.
Personally, card tricks send me to sleep but judging by the raucous applause and standing ovation some crowd members give him, I’m alone in that sentiment.
Cheeky banter, a buxom set of cards, and a gross but clever finale keep the tempo high.
