Bubbles have this innate ability to capture the attention and imagination of children of all ages – a fact this show uses to introduce a new generation of Adelaideans to the joy of the Fringe.
A lonely Dr Bubble opens the show in his laboratory, living a quiet life until he creates a magic bubble that brings his mischief-making hand puppet, Milkshake, to life.
There are bubbles galore in the ensuing mayhem, from smoke-filled and square bubbles, to shadow bubbles, spinning bubbles and even a rocket bubble that shoots into the sky.
The only downside to the whole performance is it is perhaps a little too long. Children in the audience get restless about halfway through the 60-minute show, when the scientifically spectacular bubble-making starts to go a little over their heads.
But all the kids bounce back into action for a bubble-filled finale.
Get there early to secure a spot in the first few rows if your little ones delight in popping bubbles (and who doesn’t?!).
