“Ninety-nine problems but a bitch ain’t one,” to quote rapper Jay-Z. The girl with the mic is likeable, if unkind to spiders.
Rattling around in her tormented mind is a rollicking good time with plenty of laughs.
Caught in a web of her own making with a suspect boyfriend, neurotic comedian and journalist Ange Lavoipierre is feeling increasingly paranoid and wondering if the universe is trying to tell her something.
It’s not quite “what it says on the box”, because she doesn’t spend 30 seconds on each problem. It’s fast-paced at times, but laborious at others.
The rapid-fire musical interludes, listing a multitude of problems, are so good they’re worth repeating.
Not so sure about the group reading of a play within a play, with no microphones.
A few brain fades on opening night sapped the momentum, but the show deserves a strong following.
