Adelaide Fringe review 2019: Bourgeois & Maurice
Bitingly sharp cabaret bedecked in sequins. The easily offended should beware.

Meditations on death have never sparkled so much. Bourgeois & Maurice are a brother and sister cabaret duo from the UK with an impressive pedigree going back more than a decade.
Georgeois Bourgeois struts the boards, delivering at times witheringly funny cabaret numbers in a strong, firm voice, which belies his slight, sequin-bedecked frame.
Sister Maurice Maurice accompanying on piano is understated but an amusing foil. The pair pose some deep questions: do we really need babies and should we fear them? Why haven’t we been invited to the neighbour’s sex party? Things we’ve all pondered at one time or another.
Their cabaret chops are undeniable, they have great stage presence, and their original songs are funny and well arranged. This show had some rough edges on opening night but looks likely to improve.
