NORTHERN Victorian Showjumping Club held a members only “out of iso” competition at the weekend.

Riders from across regional Victoria were keen to attend and were the envy of their Melbourne metropolitan counterparts. The club ensured they observed strict COVID guidelines, checking temperatures and staggering course walks to ensure no more than 10 people were on the very large Hunter reserve arena at one time.

It was the first time Bruce Harding had course-designed on the main arena at Shepparton and riders were extremely happy with the tracks he set.

While numbers were a little light at the top end of the competition quality was strong. Sue Coman rode Lizetta to win the 1.30m jump-off class. Lizetta jumped clear and four to take the win ahead of Russell Hearn and RBH Dante.

However, in the 1.20m jump off class Hearn could not be caught. He won the class riding his home bred RBH Mr Image but also took second place riding RBH Dante.

Club president Stuart Abrahams had an excellent show with his New Zealand import Charlton Bazaar. Abrahams won the both the 1.10m and the 1.15m classes. His daughter Eliza rode her pony Darcy to win the 55 cm section.

The 100cm jump-off class was won by Amelia Tsilfidis riding Pride of Gold with Emma Kirkbride riding Kendalee Riviera in second place.

Morris Clarke made the long trip to Shepparton from Mortlake worthwhile when he won the 1.05m jump-off class on Its Burlesque. This combo also placed second in the 1.10m.

The 1.25m speed class was won by Adam Prime riding Saddle up Smudge from Abbey Page and Riverlad. Mia Shortt rode Shirana Bocelli to win the 65cm class from Amelia Tsilfidis and Delta while Ashley Magnusson on Boston won the 75cm speed class from Mia Shortt and Shirana Bocelli. The 85cm speed class was won by Paul Thomson riding Stoneylea Eclipse from Rhonda Thomson riding Renegade K.
