2025 Herald Sun Shield live stream: Division 1 girls elimination round double header

SEDA College will have one eye on redemption when the Herald Sun Shield girls finals kick off on Wednesday, with intermediate and senior girls sides in action. Watch both games LIVE here.

The SEDA College girls are out to go one better after featuring in the semi-finals of the past two Herald Sun Shield tournaments.

That quest will begin with an elimination final match-up against Our Lady of Sion College in the senior girls at Box Hill City Oval.

The match will follow the intermediate girls division 1 elimination final at 10am between Ballarat Grammar and Padua College.

Both matches will be streamed live and exclusive on KommunityTV.

“We’re hoping to win tomorrow, that’d only get us to the semi-finals, and if we could win one more and make it to the grand final that’d be our best result, that’s what we’re hoping, to go one better than the last two years,” said SEDA coach Steve Dinnell ahead of Wednesday’s game.

“We’ve got a really even team across the board, the girls are a very even bunch, we’ve got some good top-end talent and right down to our players who have missed out we’re really strong which is great.”

The SEDA outfit has also been growing stronger with each match as the players’ familiarity with one another grows.

“Now we’ve got to this stage of the tournament the girls are playing much better team footy.

“We don’t actually get many chance to train together because we’re all in different classes across Victoria and we come together for these games.

“They’ve had three or four classes to get to know each other, with each game they’ve been improving their teamwork and communication, they’re in a good space now.

“Game one and two they’re probably still learning each other’s names, game three we can work on a few footy things and this is probably our fourth or fifth game in total after all the SSV games, it’s exciting.”

Eastern Ranges midfielder Lara Williams will be among the players key to SEDA College’s hopes after moving to the school this year.

“She’s been great for us this season … takes the game on, really exciting to watch,” Dinnell said.

Tall forward Ava Radle is a strong mark and beautiful kick, while Violet Muleta will be another one to watch.

“Violet is probably one of our smallest players but works her butt off from contest to contest and loves the hard in and under stuff. She had a great grand final when it was wet, the wets conditions really suited her when the ball was on the ground a lot,” Dinnell said.

While captain and Western Jets prospect Ella Davis has also impressed off half-back.

First played in 1977, the Herald Sun Shield showcases some of the best young football teams and players, with eight divisions this year across four boys and girls tournaments each.

The winner of the senior girls elimination final will take on Melbourne Girls Grammar for a spot in the grand final, while the intermediate girls winner will face Rowville Secondary College the following week.

SEDA College had prevailed over Western Heights College in the wet to take out the School Sport Victoria title and progress to the Herald Sun Shield elimination final, while their opponents Our Lady of Sion College took out the Catholic Girls Sports Association of Victoria title.

Of the intermediate sides set to go head-to-head, Ballarat Grammar are representing Ballarat Associated Schools while Padua College were the Southern Independent Schools champions.
