2025 Coates Talent League live stream: Tasmania Devils v GWV Rebels
A torrential downpour has greeted the Tassie Devils on their road trip to Ballarat and from there things have are only deteriorated against Greater Western Victoria Rebels. Watch both REPLAYS.
A promising future for the Greater Western Victoria Rebels seems assured as their younger brigade came to the party against an outclassed Tasmania Devils in their round 15 Coates Talent League girls clash.
The Rebels were relentless, with the ball camped in their half for most of the game, as both teams battled the torrential rain as much themselves in extreme weather in Ballarat.
But despite the quagmire-like conditions at Mars Stadium, the under-18s outfit stormed to its fifth win of the season, keeping its rivals scoreless on the way to a 8.12 (60) to 0.0 (0) result.

Jovie Skewes-Clinton was the mainstay up forward with three goals.
But it was the performances of fellow 16-year-olds Marcy Irvin (two goals) and Lila Evans (one goal), plus 15-year-old Jayda Wright (one goal), that would have been as equally pleasing.
The trio showed plenty of football smarts and skill when the Rebels blew the game wide open in the third quarter with a four-goal term.
Milly Shortal (one goal) was another to have a significant impact as she continues to develop into a fine player at this level.
The Devils never shirked the task but simply couldn’t match their rivals.
The margin could have been much higher had it not been for the defensive deeds of Grace Weldon and Lily McConnon.
The Rebels next play the Western Jets, where they are likely to start favourites.
Earlier, a spirited fightback by the Tasmania Devils has failed to come off against an inaccurate Greater Western Victoria Rebels in their round 16 boys encounter.
Played in atrocious conditions at Mars Stadium, the Rebels hung on for a 5.16 (46) to 6.6 (42) victory after the Devils kicked three final-quarter goals to almost pinch the contest.
When Jack Miller goaled off the ground the margin was reduced to four points, but, with no extra time and only 20 seconds remaining, they couldn’t get the ball closer to goal than the half-forward flank after the restart.
It would have been one of the great heists had the Devils managed to pull it off, as the Rebels peppered the goals in the second half with nine consecutive points.
The Rebels led by 16 points at halftime kicking five goals in the first half, but accuracy abandoned them in the back half as they attempted to put the result out of reach
Miller with three goals was instrumental in keeping the Devils in the contest, while Taj Bowman played a key role in denying the visitors.
PREVIEW
With the spotlight firmly on the Tasmania Devils program, nothing is changing how head coach Jeromey Webberley approaches the rest of the season.
The Devils have three rounds to go this season in the under-18s competition with the boys looking set for the wildcard round.
They’ll take on the Greater Western Victoria Rebels on Sunday with the boys and girls double header to be live streamed on KommunityTV.
The boys will play at 10.30am before the girls follow at 1pm.
As the Devils look to build into the VFL and VFLW for 2026 Webberley said the focus is purely on getting the players prepared for these last few games.
“Our program remains the same, obviously everyone’s excited about the potential VFL and VFLW license being granted but it hasn’t been ticked off yet,” Webberley said.
“There’s definitely some excitement from the playing group around what’s next for Tassie.
“But in terms of the week to week types of things, it’s just business as usual.”
The Devils, who last played together on June 22 when they defeated Sandringham, will be missing a few stars from the boys team.
“Toby Callow is not available for selection this week, he’s got some groin soreness, so he will miss this weekend’s game,” Webberley said.
“I believe apart from one or two, we’re pretty close to having all available, so our injury list outside of Callow is really good.
“(Wilbur) McMurray is returning this week but will be playing 50 per cent game time for North Hobart.
“And young Hugh McCallum is not available this week with a bit of a back complaint but we should expect these boys to be right for the next couple of games.”
Eliza Wylie is missing from the girl’s team with a broken finger and expected to return in the next fortnight.
Webberley said he is expecting a pretty tough contest against the Rebels.
“In terms of the boys’ space, they’ve got some real key threats in front of the ball, they’ve got a couple of talls and a couple of really quality smalls,” Webberley said.
“So clearly limiting supply from week to week is really important at this level but clearly this week that’s where the biggest threat lies.
“Gotta make it a dirty ball as such in terms of it’s higher, it’s rushed so they can’t make educated decisions going inside 50.
“If we can do it to break even around the ball and play the game in the front end of the ground which we like to do, I am sure that we’re going to give them some headaches.
“It’s going to be a competitive game, so it’s about limiting some of their supply from the front half and limiting their spread in front of the ball.”
