Two Victorian Western District farms sold for a combined $12m

Strong start for the property market in 2022

Two farms in Victoria’s western districts have sold for a combined total of $12m as auction action heats up in 2022.

On February 4, a 853.48ha mixed farming property at Netherby, in Victoria’s west, was sold in three lots to three different buyers for a total of $8.92m

Driscoll, McIllree and Dickinson agent Andrew McIllree said Paul and Lindsay Crane were the vendors, putting their 853.48ha on the market as Pine Park (Lot 1), Frosts (Lot 2) and Ruges (Lot 3) were up for grabs.

The 336.94ha Pine Park lot was sold under the hammer to Geoff Vivivan for $2.84m (approx. $8426.24 per ha).

Frosts was purchased by Greg and Rae Kennedy, with the 306.62ha farm sold for $3.49m (approx. $11405.23 per ha).

Finally, the 210ha Ruges property was sold to Cole Cor for $2.59m (approx. $12,333.33 per ha).

Netherby is located 25km north of Nhill and 30km west of Jeparit in Victoria’s west, with the three lots marketed as an opportunity to purchase quality farming properties to run options such as cereal, legume, hay and livestock.

Recently a farming family also sold 1000ha of Nhill farmland for millions at auction.

Also on February 4, 30 people were in attendance as the 387.28ha farm at Hinkleys Powers Creek – Edenhope Rd, Powers Creek was sold at auction.

Charles Stewart Director Nick Adamson said the mixed farmland, which was located 19km southeast from Edenhope, sold for $3.56m, with a local buyer coming out on top.

A price of $9198 per ha was the winning bid.

Further east a 126ha cropping farm at 554 Mills Road, Naring, was passed in at auction.

Kevin Hicks Real Estate agent Malcolm Blake said the vendors of the property were assessing their options on what to do next with their asset.
