Simon Withers and family to sell Berrigan aggregation at auction
A tightly-held renowned farm in southern NSW has hit the market and could fetch as much as $36m.
A prized Riverina family owned farming aggregation has hit the market, with the blue-ribbon property to go under the hammer in March.
The 2448ha Withers Aggregation, near Berrigan in southern NSW, is expected to make as much as $36 million.
The property is owned by Simon Withers and his family, who are offering the farm for sale for the first time in 60 years.
Corcoran Parker selling agent Mike Weller said a property like the Withers Aggregation was rarely seen on the market.
“Aggregations like this don’t come up very often and there have been no comparable local properties on the market for some time,” Mr Weller said.
He said early interest in the property was “very strong”.
“So far we have seen a combination of locals and corporates inquire about the property,” Mr Weller said.
“We have also seen large-scale farmers who are looking to increase their holdings and vertically integrate their operation.
“There is so much buoyancy around agriculture at the moment and so we decided the best way to maximise the price for the vendor was to generate competition and put it up for auction.
“The market will decide what it is worth on auction day.”
Price indications for the property sit at $13,480 per ha.
The Withers Aggregation is located in proximity to the Berrigan township, the Murray River and is a 90-minute drive to Albury-Wodonga.
The property is for sale as a whole or in three separate parcels with Brynton (957ha), Clondara (1,104ha) and Warranbilla (387ha) all up for grabs.
Mr Weller said the large-scale mixed farming aggregation was ready for new owners to hit the ground running with their own operation.
Key features of the property include access to Berrigan and Mulwala Channels for irrigation purposes, a five-bedroom, two-bathroom homestead and grain silos with total combined storage in excess of 1200 tonnes.
It will go under the hammer on March 11.
The eye-catching listing joins a growing group of significant farms which have hit the market, including an $11m riverfront aggregation near Swan Hill.
