Howqua Park resort on the market in Alpine Region
Tourism opportunities await the new owner of this picturesque Howqua resort set in Victoria’s Alpine Region.
IN THE height of summer, the sound of cicadas singing at dusk is unmistakeable at one Howqua property.
Set in Victoria’s picturesque Alpine Region, Howqua Park has been placed on the market and will be sold by private treaty.
Mansfield DPG real estate’s Jenny Gould described the rural holding of 21.03 hectares as a “bushland resort” and said its best attribute was its location.
“The great thing is that it’s 20 minutes from Mansfield, but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere,” Ms Gould said. “It’s incredibly private”.

Howqua Park features a 50 square metre, double-brick residence, which incorporates two self-contained apartments with their own bathrooms and kitchenettes.
It boasts four bathrooms, five bedrooms, a pool room and a triple garage, and the outdoor areas are similarly impressive, with a pool and floodlit tennis court.
There is good quality boundary fencing, and four paddocks suitable for livestock, such as horses.
Rainwater storage totals 190,000 litres, which is retained in five tanks. Further water supplies for the surrounding native gardens are drawn from two dams.
Ms Gould said the property would be ideal for a large family – or someone wanting to establish a tourism venture, such as a health retreat or bed and breakfast.
“There’s so much potential here,” she said. “You can do whatever you want.”
Vendor John Perks bought the property 32 years ago.
“I was initially attracted to the rural setting,” John said.
“It’s a beautiful spot here in the Howqua Valley.
“The idea was to set up a private resort for my family”.

Since then, he’s extended the home, as well as established the tennis court and pool.
It’s been a quiet retreat for John and his family, who have managed the popular Arlberg Hotel at Mt Buller for the past 30 years.
“It’s been an emotional time for us, but we have come to the decision to sell for a number of reasons,” he said. “Our kids are grown up and we are getting older, so we need to be closer to town.”
Howqua Park is located 26 kilometres from Mansfield, 60km from Mt Buller and 219km from Melbourne.
