A livestock farm at Cathkin near Alexandra has hit the market with an asking price of more than $8 million.

The 578ha property, Merrinehbek, is owned by Dick and Cally Sinclair who have run successful prime lamb, wool, sheep and cattle operations on the farm.

Merrinehbek features a four bedroom homestead, landscaped gardens and a water supply which includes a 20 megalitre entitlement and frontage to the Goulburn River.

The property is being marketed by Elders and expression of interest will close on September 20.

It comes as The Weekly Times recently reported Australia is on track for its dearest spring property selling season on record.

Following a winter wonderland of deals, a historic sheep and wool property in the Western District has sold for more than $35 million last week.

Buln Gherin at Stockyard Hill fetched the whopping price and was purchased by three local farmers from the area.
