The South Gippsland livestock community is rallying around the son of one of their own after Adam Sutton and his son Darcy were involved in a horrific car crash that killed Adam and has left Darcy in critical condition.

Adam picked Darcy up from school last Tuesday and was turning into his property at Glengarry, near Traralgon, when he and Darcy were involved in a collision with another vehicle.

Adam was 35 years old and is survived by Darcy, eight, as well as a younger daughter.

Adam, who worked as a livestock representative for the Traralgon area, has been remembered as a “great guy to work with” by his employer, Terry Ginname, director of Nutrien’s South Gippsland Livestock team.

“He was a great member of our team,” said Mr Ginname. “Not just good at his job but a really great guy and really popular within the team.

“You feel pretty helpless when these things happen, but with his son needing a lot of care and assistance, we’d just like to help his family with all the costs coming.

“It’s a long road ahead.”

According to information on Leongatha Nutrien’s Facebook page, Darcy was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital after the crash and presented with a plethora of injuries, including: a possible high spinal injury, brain injuries, a sinus fracture, a nasal fracture and significant injuries to his internal organs including his liver, spleen and a kidney.

Mr Ginname said Darcy showed small signs of improvement last week, but he is still in critical condition.

Adam’s colleagues have set up a donation fund that has at the time of writing already raised over $8000 for Darcy’s medical expenses with the initial goal set at $25,000.
