The family of a prominent agricultural figure is selling its 2860ha mixed farm near Rand in the NSW Riverina.
The family of a prominent agricultural figure is selling its 2867ha mixed farming operation near Rand, in the NSW Riverina with offers set to exceed $35 million.
The Macneil family is selling the Green Park aggregation after the late Angus Macneil (AO) died in October last year, aged 80.
Mr Macneil was a key figure in the Riverina, holding many roles including time as a board member for the Murray Catchment Management Authority, serving on the Rand Town Improvement Committee, and was a Urana Shire councillor from 1965 to 1989.
He was awarded the Order of Australia for his services to primary industry in 2019.
Mr Macneil was a key figure in the rise of the political career of Farrer federal MP and current deputy leader of the Liberal Party, Sussan Ley.
Held by the Macneil family for about 90 years, the property comprises five holdings: Green Park (1392.58ha); Romani (306.3ha); Burnleigh (316.11ha); Karimba (309.08ha); and Moolah (543.91ha).
Located 12km west of Rand, 97 per cent (2795ha) of the aggregation is considered arable.
Elders Real Estate selling agents Nick Myer, Matt Horne and Henry Mackinnon are handling the sale, alongside Paull & Scollard Nutrien Ag Solutions selling agent Roger Bramley.
“The Green Park aggregation holds an excellent reputation for the production of high yielding cereal, legume and oilseed crops in addition to prime lamb and wool production,” Mr Myer said.
“Offerings of this quality and scale in the immediate region are scarce and we anticipate that the aggregation will appeal to a wide variety of investor groups including both local and corporate entities.”
Existing infrastructure includes 3450 tonne grain storage, machinery and hay shedding, two shearing sheds, two sets of sheep yards, two sets of steel cattle yards, and additional shedding.
Accommodation includes a four-bedroom homestead and two staff cottages.
Green Park comprises a combination of red and grey loams, with heavier grey clay soil types and has mature shelterbelts for stock protection.
There is also abundant natural water supply via multiple catchment dams, bores, in addition to extensive Billabong Creek frontage, while average annual rainfall equals a reliable 500mm.
The Green Park aggregation is for sale as a whole or in five separate lots with expressions of interest closing Thursday, March 16 at 4pm.
Earlier this month, a 2370ha Denilquin mixed farm was sold in a deal with a Riverina cotton grower.
