Henty Machinery Field Days: Country Livestyle pavilion preview
FROM fashion to floral art, and celebrity speakers to cookery tips, there will be something for everyone in the Country Lifestyle pavilion this year.
FROM fashion to floral art, and celebrity speakers to cookery tips, there will be something for everyone in the Country Lifestyle pavilion at Henty field days this year this year.
Last year, Country Lifestyle celebrated the completion of a new permanent structure, allowing exhibitors from both the Country Lifestyle and ET (Extra Tent) marquees to be housed under the one roof.
The 120m x 18m shed will also be used to stage seminars and trade displays at year round events at the field days.
The shed has a sealed floor and a 387,000 litre rainwater tank for supplying water across the field days site.
Country Lifestyle co-ordinator Lyn Jacobsen said exhibitors and visitors appreciated the firm, all-weather flooring, wide pedestrian aisles and weatherproof comfort.
“It is a wonderful enclosed area where wet weather is not an issue — we don’t have to worry about dripping tents,” Mrs Jacobsen said.
This year, more than 100 exhibitors have taken sites in the Country Lifestyle pavilion.
Compere for the fashion parades is Peta Schaefer, while Albury DJ Steve Bowen will once again provide the music.
Mrs Jacobsen said the large, new shed was an exciting step for Country Lifestyle.
“The wider walkways make it a lot roomier and less congested,” she said.
“The skylights along the northern side allow in plenty of natural light plus power points are easier to access.”
The aim of the Country Lifestyle program is always to entertain, inform and educate.
The Country Lifestyle pavilion has combined with what was formerly known as the ET Tent all under the one roof and is run by Lyn Jacobsen, Leonie Kohlhagen and Jane Lieschke with a team of Riverina Group CWA members.
Mrs Kohlhagen said the new Country Lifestyle pavilion was well lit and spacious.
“There will be even more shopping options in Country Lifestyle this year,” she said.
Fashion parades have been consistently popular with field day visitors, sowing the seed for the launch of the Henty Natural Fibre Fashion Awards in 2004.
Today, the competition is one of the major natural fibre awards in Australia, attracting international entries for the first time several years ago.
Demonstrations covering a vast array of topics are held, keeping a vibrant tempo in the pavilion. Demonstrators this year include Kathryn Trippett, of The Australian Wool Store, knitting two socks simultaneously on the one circular needle using a single ball of wool.
Circus performer Marcela Scheuner will dazzle the crowds with her dynamic hoop routine while Eazbuild managing director Mel Williams will outline tips on property and development evaluations. Celebrity weatherman Monte Dwyer will talk on his latest book, Struberville — Consequences of Isolation and image consultant, Nicky McMillan, will present The Stripping Sytlist, a study of the emotional influence of clothes.
