FARMERS visiting the AgQuip and Henty field days over the past two months have been the first in Australia to lay eyes on the new Tatu Marcheson GAPCR HD 8013 offset disc harrow.

Made in Brazil, the machine is distributed in Australia by Serafin Machinery, of Griffith, as a preferred supplier.

It features a heavy “Double C”-section frame fully gusseted for extra strength to dig deep, even in tough ground.

Designed for deep tillage as a primary pass machine, it is used in applications such as opening up new brigalow country, working clay deep into sandy soils and road base construction on mine sites.

Serafin Machinery sales manager Rodney Dunn said the 45-plate unit taken to the field days was the only one in the country at the moment.

“After Henty, we took it back to Griffith to run some on-farm demonstrations for clients,” he said.

“We’ve always had the fixed version, which is up to a 37-plate, giving us a 5.9m working width.

“However, with this new model able to go a bit wider to 6.5-7m as a true offset machine, we probably have the largest, heaviest set of offsets in a unit that’s not a tandem.

“We recommend at least 540hp (397kW) as a tractor power requirement.

“The 2½-inch axle is very robust and suits that high-impact ground it’s working, whether that’s in cotton production, irrigation work, opening new country or on mine sites.

“The machine folds to 5.5m wide for road transport with two escorts, with a hydraulically engaged lock on the arms holding the wings firm.”

Discs are 34 inches x 9mm standard (optional 36 inches x 12mm) 340mm apart, working widths are 3.7-7.4m and the weights peak at 13,675kg. Serafin already stocks smaller Tatu Marcheson models with similar configuration and disc size, from 25-plate upwards, as well as other machinery from the manufacturer.

The 45-plate 8013 now in Australia is priced at $125,000 (+GST) and delivery or dealer charges. For more details, visit serafinmachinery.com.au
