Shorthorn bull hits a record $106,000 high at Dubbo
A Shorthorn bull has broken a record just two months after the female breed high was also smashed. See how the sale unfolded.
A bull has made a breed record of $106,000 at the Shorthorn National Show and Sale at Dubbo in NSW.
The bull, Ronelle Park Slurpie S29, offered by Ronelle Park Shorthorns at Lyndhurst NSW, was sold to the Falls family of Malton Shorthorns at Blighty, also in NSW.
The 21.5-month-old bull weighed 850kg, had an EMA of 130 and IMF of 7.8 per cent.
He was sired by Ronelle Park Quantum Q73 from the cow Ronelle Park Wisteria N30.
The previous high for a Shorthorn bull was $85,000 for Futurity Rapid Gain, which was sold by Jason Catts of Futurity Shorthorns at Kenebri NSW to Tatalia Shorthorns of Moama in August last year.
It has been a season for records within the Shorthorn breed after a cow made a top of $95,000 at the Sprys Shorthorns on-property sale at Wagga Wagga last month.
The cow, Sprys Miss Buddy M36 (P) was secured by Tony Rutter of Tarcutta in southern NSW.
