Eastern Young Cattle Indicator and National Young Cattle Indicator rolling coverage

The Eastern Young Cattle Indicator is holding firm at 726c/kg, while the National Young Cattle Indicator has lifted to 382c/kg liveweight. See the full market details and top prices.

The benchmark Eastern Young Cattle Indicator is trending at 726c/kg carcass weight on July 11, 2025.

Prices down slightly by 1.42c/kg in a week, and 19c/kg higher than a month ago and 101c/kg more than the same time last year.

The National Young Cattle Indicator is trading at 382c/kg liveweight on July 11, 2025. It is 1.22c/kg more than a week ago and 4.10c/kg compared to this time last month.

The EYCI, calculated by Meat and Livestock Australia, is the key price guide for restocker, processor and feedlot buyers, and sellers.

Precisely, it is derived from the seven-day moving average price for C2 and C3 vealers and yearlings at major cattle markets in NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

Meanwhile, NYCI is the key price guide for vealer, weaner, and yearling heifers, steers and mixed pens bought by restockers, with a live weight from 200kg.

It is a seven-day rolling average of young cattle sold across all National Livestock Reporting Service-reported saleyards and online livestock marketplaces. It is expressed in cents-a-kilogram liveweight.
