5.30pm, Another day done
Chucky, Cororooke, VIC
DON’T know about you but we are ready for that post-#dayofdogs18 nap, just like Chucky and his owner Kimberley Burridge were snapped doing on their farm.
Chucky was rescued by Xavier and Kimberley from Chooks at the Rooke through Maremma Rescue Victoria nine months ago.
He now has a job and a home, where he protects the 1650 chooks and 40 Banquet-blood Angus cows and calves on 64ha at Cororooke near Colac.
To all those hardworking puppies, thank you for sharing your story with us and we hope you have sweet dreams.

4pm, Time to cool off
PARTS of southeast Australia have been getting an early taste of summer today — Hopetoun in the Victorian Mallee recorded temperatures just shy of 40 degrees at about 1.30pm.
Luckily, these dogs know how to cool off.
The second love (after his family) for kelpie Rusty, according to his owners Dennis and Samantha Reynolds from Orbost, is chasing the sprinklers on the irrigation lines.
Marj Shay from Maiden Gully says nine-month-old Kelpie-Border Collie cross, Paddy, loves to play with the water in the hoses.
“While we are watering the garden he constantly runs around us trying to grab the water,” she says.
"Paddy is also an up-and-coming sheep dog. He is determined to chase the sheep instead of rounding them up, he thinks it is the best fun to run and chase them all over the place."
Meanwhile, on Instagram ...
3.25pm, Loved ones gone, not forgotten
THE Weekly Times contributor Fiona Myers sent in this beautiful picture of her farm dog turned house dog, Meg, who passed away a month ago.
“We still miss her every day,” Fiona says.
Barbara Lamb also sent in this picture of Bernese Mountain dog-cross Roxy and Red Cattle dog-cross, Ella.
She says this photo was taken the day they brought Ella home to Narre Warren after a long drive from Canberra from a foster rescue home.
“It was love at first sight,” Barbara says.
“Sadly we lost Roxy last November, one month short of her 12th birthday.
“Now our beloved Ella has cancer and her time left with us will be short.
“They have been a constant delight and the most wonderful companions.
“Dogs provide you with unconditional love and loyalty, unmatched by any other living being.”

1.15pm, Bella
Wodonga, VIC
BELLA is a three-year-old rescue Kelpie who loves spending time with her new companions Norme and Perle Cook.
Their son Graeme Cook sent in these pictures and says Bella has quickly fit into their family and has become a very important part of their lives.
“Bella is great company and a reliable security alarm for the folks as well as a much needed outlet for me to exercise regularly,” he said.
“Dad had working dogs as a kid from Blue Heelers to Kelpies and this is the first time in 70 odd years that he has enjoyed having his own dog again. He has temporarily become somewhat immobile due a knee reconstruction and Bella serves as a nice distraction.”
Bella the Kelpie proving that dogs are the best kinds of people.
11.40am, Getting into mischief
SOME dogs are a little naughty sometimes, but we still love them just the same.
Geelong’s Gerry Fleming says his 18-month-old Border Collie Ruby likes long walks and chasing tennis balls, but also has a liking for “chewing shoes”.
“She lives a life of leisure and roams our half-acre block,” he says.
“She is very loveable, good-natured and protective.”
Then there is toast bandits Charlie and Bear, and let’s just say it’s lucky Min is so cute considering his unusual tastes!

11.05am, Great company
RENOWNED The Weekly Times photographer Zoe Phillips adores taking stunning pictures of canines and has a knack for capturing them in their best moments. This includes photographing her own much loved Kelpie Bruce who loves a walk in the bush while getting easily distracted by echidnas. Zoe describes him as a bit of a goof who is fantastic company on her strolls.
10.25am, Helping hand
Whittlesea, VIC
SUZI Duncan from Whittlesea sent in these pictures of her 13-month-old Rottweiler, Simma.
She says Simma not only helps her down the street and at the market but also with the farm work by taking over the tractor.
“She is my companion, my mate, my work assistant and support,” Suzi says.
“She epitomises the love a dog can give and she is only 13 months old.”
9.45am, Pin-up pooches
THE Weekly Times inbox has been inundated with gorgeous pictures of all kinds of dogs from all over the country.
Check out our #dayofdogs18 gallery for more photogenic puppies and to see if your best mate has been featured.
9am, G’day mate
Wedderburn, VIC
DOGS are certainly faithful friends, but they also like to make new ones, too.
Val Rees and her husband were on a road trip and passing through Wedderburn in central Victoria recently when they saw this meet-and-greet unfold.
“I spotted these two dogs walking down the street who stopped to welcome these other dogs that were in the back of a working ute parked on the side of the road,” she says.
"We watched in amazement as these two dogs took it in turns to reach up to sniff and say hi the kelpie in the ute.
“Such a wonderful thing to witness. Then with all tails wagging the two dogs left and went on their way.
"This bought such a smile to our faces to witness.”
7.45am, Sheila the Blue Heeler
Ferndale, VIC
THE sun is up so it’s time to get to work — and this is one dog who does not like to take a back seat.
Kayla Rigano sent in this picture of Sheila the Blue Heeler.
“She loves to load the cattle on the truck then ride in style upfront,” Kayla says
6am, Rolly the Kelpie
Springfield, VIC
GOOD morning and welcome to Day of Dogs for 2018.
