Singer and actor, Johnny Ruffo, 34, shares his day on a plate.
6.45am I was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017, so I start the day with medication and a large glass of water mixed with daily vitamins.
8am One slice of toast with my nonna’s fig jam, and another slice with Vegemite. More medication.
1.30pm At home for my lunchtime medication, I make a salad with cucumber, capsicum, tomatoes, onion and tuna and a dressing of balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper.
4pm While out for a walk, I drink a bottle of water with cordial.
6.30pm A medium-well steak, mash and broccoli, plus a Coke Zero to wash down my medication.
9pm An English breakfast tea and two Anzac biscuits.

Top marks for … Your salad lunch, which provides most of your day’s vegies, some protein and long-chain omega-3 fats in the tuna, essential for your brain, and polyphenols in the extra virgin olive oil, which may provide anti-cancer benefits. Your walk is also a winner as there is good evidence to show the benefits of exercise during cancer treatment.
If you keep eating like this you’ll … Enjoy your food and give your body the main nutrients it needs, but I’d advise cutting down on the added sugar you are getting in your jam, cordial and biscuits.
Why don’t you try … Having avocado or boiled eggs on your toast, adding fresh mint and a slice of cucumber to your water instead of cordial, and swapping the biscuits for a handful of nuts and berries.
