Three Blue Ducks to open at The Lodge in Bellingen, NSW
Bellingen already punches above its weight with music festivals and as the backdrop to numerous Australian films, now the small town between Coffs Harbour and Nambucca Heads is set for a new food injection from the team at Three Blue Ducks.
Three Blue Ducks co-owner Darren Robertson confirmed the hospitality group has leased the restaurant space at The Lodge, the luxury resort just outside the picturesque NSW town. A launch date isn't fixed, but it'll open in the next few months.
While it won't immediately grow its own produce like the Ducks' northern NSW venture, The Farm Byron Bay, the new restaurant will sit in the middle of 16 acres of manicured gardens, with mountain views of Dorrigo National Park.
News of the Ducks' arrival first spread through the district when job ads for a new project in the area were placed last year. Those initial whispers became the talk of a town which already enjoys a growing food pedigree.
From a humble Sydney cafe, Three Blue Ducks has grown into a sprawling empire, with a venue in Melbourne, pop-ups in ski resorts and a love of rural projects – Ducks co-owner Mark LaBrooy liked fly-fishing at Nimbo Fork Lodge so much, they opened a Three Blue Ducks restaurant at the resort, 30 minutes from Gundagai.
The menu at The Lodge is still being finalised, but locals can expect plenty of the group's signature food under the Ducks banner.
Chef and owners Darren Robertson and Andy Allen are working with local producers and farming regions to source ingredients and produce for the breakfast, lunch, dinner and function menus. The beverage list will feature a strong list of local NSW wines and beers, as well as coffee from long-standing Three Blue Ducks partner, Single O.
