Shenkin Kitchen

Israeli$$

Shakshuka is popping up everywhere, but Shenkin shows just how good it can be. Two eggs are cracked into a terracotta dish and poached in garlicky, peppery, tomato sauce - they’re then served, still wobbling, with a pair of puffy pita rounds. Creamy hummus is best ordered alongside crunchy green felafel, while blinches are filled with a light milk-chocolate sauce and strawberries. Kitchen is the third Shenkin cafe from the Haikin family. With its pale brick walls, battered oil lanterns, great Mecca coffee and a counter spread with homemade pastries, it’s felt, right from opening, like an established old faithful. Also open for dinner.
