Himalayan Char Grill
Nepalese$$
With Nepalese tunes, pastel walls, buddha statues and the scent of fenugreek, ginger and cardamom hugging the room there’s a sense of well-to-do late-’90s hippy-share-house about. Less hippy-like are the fine grilled meats on offer; poleko bhanta (charred bits of chook parcelled in eggplant) is a fine choice, even if the bed of green chilli sauce has as much heat as a hairless yeti. Smashed vegie samosas and spicy yoghurt are a bang-on starter, although the Glebe-famous lamb shanks are a tad less submissive than they ought to be. A homemade fig and sultana ice-cream rounds things out nicely.
