Cafecito
Brazilian$$
As capoeira disguises combat as dance, Cafecito has Brazilian eatery hiding behind a sandwich cafe front. Of the clues – the flag, music, exotic bottled drinks – the most obvious is that the place is full with diners smiling behind feasts of carbs and protein. Prato feito hits hunger hard: chargrilled medium-rare steak, stewy black beans, fried egg and rice. Mandioquinha (cassava) chips make an excellent addition, crisp-skinned, sweet and dry inside, topped with grated cheese and great with malagueta hot sauce. Don’t dance around the sweet pasteis – savoury, crisp-fried pastries holding cheese and a syrupy slice of guava – attack them.
