Pint of Milk

Contemporary$$

This cafe has struck a sweet spot among locals since opening in a former milkbar opposite a park. The bright interior is a mix of white walls (with a scrawly milkman mural feature), raw-wood tables and looping light wires. The menu is modern. Breakfasts range from decadent ricotta hotcakes with chocolate fudge sauce to gutsy mushrooms with chestnuts on walnut bread. For lunch, lemon polenta gives a satisfying crunch to tender calamari nestled on a cabbage and apple salad, while a hefty steak sandwich zings with beetroot relish and eggplant chips. Excellent coffee is by Gridlock (house blend and rotating single origins).
