Middle Fish
Thai
In the cavernous shell of a former auto repair shop you'll find this fun, new-wave Thai cafe firing on all cylinders. A mix of hipsters and academics from nearby Melbourne Uni sit at oil drum tables and in booths built from railway sleepers, ordering all-day breakfasts such as crunchy mussel omelette reminiscent of bubble and squeak. Lunch might be sticky brown house-made spaghetti with sweet chilli tiger prawns, or a fiery broth of pork ribs cooked until the meat falls off the bones and packed with coriander, red capsicum and green beans. Eight types of tea and 5 Senses coffee round out the experience.
