What's this? Whimsy, family tradition and legend in a nondescript suburban Chinese diner. Happy Cook delights with dishes such as 'mermaid's tresses', lightly fried shredded seaweed that hits the palate crisp before melting away; translucent, steamed dumplings; and marshmallowy souffle balls with a redbean centre. Chef Happy Kuk, who made the Guinness Book of Records in 1993 for pulling 4096 noodles in 45.14 seconds, runs the kitchen. He may not be as fast these days, but he can still pull perfectly formed noodles, slick 'em with oil and toss with shredded pork. Happy Cook, happy customer.
