Noma auctions seats for its last Australian service
If you've got deep pockets and a big heart, here's your chance to buy your way into Noma Australia before it leaves our shores.
The Sydney pop-up version of the famed Danish restaurant will auction 15 tables (56 seats) to its final dinner service on Saturday, April 2, with profits after costs to be split between local food rescue charity OzHarvest and chef Rene Redzepi's non-profit foodie think tank, MAD.
The opportunity doesn't come cheap with the starting price for a table of two set at $1500 (a mark-up of $100 on the usual degustation and wine pairing price of $700 per person). Tables for four, six and eight people will also be available.
The online auction begins today with final bids taken until 8pm Wednesday March 23.
Noma's Redzepi said the auction was "an opportunity for us to give back in a small way". "[It's] a chance to raise money and recognise the work being done by our friends at OzHarvest and MAD, and to celebrate the welcome we've received and the new friendships that we have made throughout our Australian adventure."
