Man charged after supermarket armed robbery

UPDATE, 9AM, JUNE 11:
A 20-year-old man from New Norfolk has been arrested and charged in relation to the armed robbery at Coles Supermarket in Bridgewater on Sunday.
He was charged with armed robbery and will appear in court on a later date.
Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in identifying the offender.
INITIAL, Monday June 8:
POLICE are investigating an alleged armed robbery at Coles Supermarket in Bridgewater around 5.50pm last night.
Police say a man entered the supermarket and selected a quantity of items, which he allegedly placed in a bag, before leaving the store without paying for the items.
On the way out he was approached by staff who had observed his actions, with the man allegedly producing a knife.

Police were called and an investigation was commenced. No one was injured during the incident.
The man is described as being mid-twenties, average build, dark hair and fair complexion.
