A HOBART man will stand trial after pleading not guilty to the stabbing murder of a 34-year-old man at Mornington.
Caleb Adams, 31, appeared briefly in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning, when he entered a not guilty plea to the singular charge of murdering Ashton Frederick Jones.
Mr Adams will face trial in 2021.
Mr Jones’ body was found by police in the early hours of Monday morning at a residential property in Carbeen St.
Police previously said his cause of death was a stab wound to the neck, with the incident occurring about 2.50am.
They believed the two men were known to each other.
Mr Adams, a Mornington resident, will remain in custody while he waits for his Supreme Court of Tasmania trial.
On Wednesday, he appeared in the docks dressed in the same oversized grey T-shirt he wore during a brief out-of-hours court appearance on Tuesday night.
Magistrate Chris Webster remanded Mr Adams to appear at the Supreme Court on February 1 next year.
