Court dates have now been locked in for two Hobart men who are attempting to fight separate murder charges. LATEST FROM COURT >>

BREAKING: Teen charged with murder of Rene Latimore

COURT dates have been locked in for two Hobart men who are attempting to fight their respective charges of murder.

One of the men, Shaun James Scott, appeared in Supreme Court of Tasmania via videolink from Risdon Prison on Monday.

Mr Scott is pleading not guilty to murder charges, following police allegations that he bashed a man to death with a metal object in November last year.

The deceased, Bradley Paul Wolf, had been temporarily living with Mr Scott in his South Hobart unit on Livingston Street, police said.

Mr Scott’s court date has been pushed back in response to a doctor’s opinion that he is currently “unfit to stand trial”, and a medical report is being finalised.

He is due to appear before court on February 7, 2022.

“Obviously this is a serious matter. If there’s a suggestion he’s unfit to stand trial, the report needs to be pursued,” Justice Tamara Jago said.

Caleb Adams appeared in the Supreme Court over a separate murder charge, having been accused of stabbing a man in the neck at Carbeen Street in Mornington.

Mr Adams is pleading not guilty to the charges, which were laid in October last year after the death of 34-year-old Ashton Jones.

Police allege that the two men knew each other, and that it was Mr Adams who stabbed Mr Jones in the early hours of Monday morning on October 12.

Mr Adams’ court case has been adjourned to December 8, and he will remain in custody until then.
