Christopher Mark Jordan pleads not guilty for murder of 14-year-old Shyanne-Lee Tatnell

The man accused of killing 14-year-old Shyanne-Lee Tatnell has pleaded not guilty to her murder.

Christopher Mark Jordan has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 14-year-old Shyanne-Lee Tatnell.

Jordan appeared in the Launceston Magistrates Court via video link on Wednesday for plea on one count of murder, a count of failing to comply with prescribed storage of ammunition requirements, a count of possessing a controlled plant or its products, and a count of possessing a prohibited import.

He pleaded not guilty to the count of murder and will be back in court on March 12 for preliminary proceedings.

Jordan did not enter pleas for the other charges.

The Burnie teenager was last seen crossing the Henry St bridge, heading towards Ravenswood just after 8:30pm on April 30, 2023.

Shyanne-Lee had been living in Launceston at a youth shelter shortly before her disappearance.

Police launched several large-scale searches to find her, including diving operations in the North Esk River.

On July 26, her remains were found in bushland at Nabowla, west of Scottsdale, during a search effort that included 180 personnel.

The day after Shyanne-Lee’s remains were found, Jordan was arrested and charged with her murder.
