A man from Tasmania's North-East is yet to enter a plea to the charge of murdering teenager Shyanne-Lee Tatnell, with the defendant uttering just two words at a mention of his matters in Launceston Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Scottsdale man Christopher Mark Jordan appeared before Launceston Magistrate Sharon Cure for a third mention of his four charges, which relate to the alleged murder of Shyanne-Lee and contraband allegedly discovered at his residence.

Duty solicitor Hannah Goss, on instructions from Mr Jordan’s defence counsel Greg Richardson, requested a further adjournment to December 20, which Ms Cure granted.

Asked by Ms Cure whether he understood her orders, Mr Jordan replied, “Yes, yes.”

Shyanne-Lee, who was from Burnie but relocated to Launceston to live in a youth shelter shortly before her disappearance, was last seen crossing the Henry St bridge heading towards Ravenswood just after 8.30pm on April 30.

Her remains were discovered in bushland at Nabowla, west of Scottsdale, on the evening of July 26.

Mr Jordan was arrested the following day and charged with the teen’s murder.

In addition to murder, Mr Jordan is also charged with three additional offences, stemming from a police search of his residence on May 16.

The charges are failing to comply with prescribed storage of ammunition requirements, possessing a controlled plant or its products (minor offence), and possessing a prohibited import.
