A YOUNG man has briefly faced court charged with the shooting murder of prison hospital escapee Nicholas Aaron Scott, but has not yet entered a plea.
Granton resident Brock Callum Davey, 20, is one of three men charged with the killing on January 3 this year.
On Friday, Mr Davey – who is in custody – appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court, with his lawyer telling Magistrate Reg Marron she’d only recently taken carriage of the matter, asking for an adjournment without plea.
Mr Davey is also yet to enter pleas on a raft of other charges dating back to January 3, including breaching a family violence order, possessing a firearm in contravention of a firearms prohibition order, and breaching bail.
It is understood Mr Davey was treated in hospital with non-life-threatening head injuries after the alleged Granton murder.
He will appear in court again on March 24.
Another two men – a 44-year-old from Moonah and 21-year-old from Collinsvale – are due to return to court in February over the alleged murder.
Nicholas Scott, 26, was found deceased by police outside a residence in the early hours of January 3, after escaping prison guards at the Royal Hobart Hospital the night before about 10.50pm.
His escape triggered a police manhunt, with authorities ultimately finding him dead after being called out to a firearms discharge on Black Snake Road about 1.30am.
Scott had been treated at the hospital while serving a period of imprisonment.
