SFL: All the signings of the 2023-24 off-season

The off-season is well underway for a number of SFL clubs who have unveiled a host of recruits for 2024. Here are all the moves in our SFL signing tracker.

The Southern Football League (SFL) off-season is well underway.

With the five southern-based TSL clubs set to return to the competition in 2025, current clubs are already making big moves to ensure their lists 12 months out from the biggest change in Tasmanian footy in over a decade.

Throughout the next several months, we’ll keep you updated on all the big moves across the competition.

Here’s a look at what’s happened so far.

CLAREMONT

Coaching announcement: Following Nathan Brown's departure as senior coach in January, the club was quick to promote from within with former reserves playing coach Brad Davies announced as Brown's replacement just days later.

CYGNET

Cooper Sawdy: The former Kingborough Tigers TSL player joins the reigning premiers as both a player and development coach for 2024. After a stepping away from footy in 2023, the key tall will be a major addition to the Port’s line-up next season.

George O'Neil: Another former player returning to Cygnet, O'Neil joins the Port after playing with Kingborough in the TSL. Was a member of the Tigers 2022 grand final side and 2023 premiership side as a forward but expect him to play more midfield in the SFL.

HUONVILLE LIONS

Coaching announcement: Now former North Hobart TSL captain Callen Daly has been appointed as the club’s new senior playing coach. He will slot straight into the midfield.

Regan Brock: The younger brother of star forward Ethan, Brock joins the Lions after making the move from Sydney to Tasmania. He recently played for Ingleburn Magpies and was also apart of the GWS Academy for 4 years.

Tom Wright: Wright comes to the Lions after a year off football. Before that, he was a member of Kingborough’s TSL side with his elite speed and ball winning ability sure to be a strong addition to Huonville in 2024.

Alex Bessell: Another player returning to football after a year away in 2023, Bessell is a former Kingborough midfielder who made his senior debut at 16.

DODGES FERRY

Coaching announcement: Jess Tegg has been appointed as the club’s senior coach for the next two seasons. He previously was an assistant coach with Lauderdale.

Brodie Tegg: A former junior player who will slot in the midfield next season.

Darcy Easther: Crossed from Lauderdale where he performed strongly on the wing in the Development League.

Connor Pepper: Missed most of 2023 with a shoulder injury and will slot into the Sharks’ midfield.

Tom Curran: Won Lauderdale’s most consistent player award in the TSL Development League the last two seasons. Made his TSL senior debut earlier this year.

Zac Clark: Clark returns to football after a year off. Played all his junior football at Clarence with his decision making a highlight of his game.

LINDISFARNE

Sam Adams: The three-time premiership star’s return has been confirmed for next season. “You’ll mostly catch Sam kicking snags up forward but keep an eye out for one of his famous bone-crunching tackles,” the club said.

Dylan Fyfe: An absolute star, the talented Fyfe joins the Two Blues after playing the majority of his footy at Lauderdale. The midfielder then spent a number of years in Queensland where he won a premiership with the Southport Sharks in the NEAFL.

SORELL

Coaching announcement: Simon Harris has been confirmed as the club’s new head coach, having previously served as an assistant.

Kobe Bennett: Made his TSL senior debut this year and went onto play four games.

Hugh Byers: A forward-midfielder who has a “great skill set” according to the club.

Riley Thomas: A young gun with an “uncapped amount of ability”. Can play on the half forward flank with his athletic ability.

Jack Johnstone: Returns to the Eagles in a development type role.

Ollie Holdsworth: A former junior who will play across halfback with his hard running ability.

Jhet Moore: The hard at it midfielder joins from the Old Scholars Football Association where he was named in the Team of the Year.

Liam Harris: Described as “an exciting prospect inside the forward 50”, Harris arrives from North Hobart.

Rohan Wright: Wright joins the Eagles from OHA where he played a variety of roles. The Eagles feel that given his young age and exciting attributes that he will fit in really well and play some quality senior football.

Mitch Graham: Graham makes the move to Sorell from the East Coast Swans.

Mark Johnson: The former favourite son returns home to Sorell after a year away working. A proven ball winner, Johnson will be a handy addition to a young side.

Shane Henderson: Henderson comes to the SFL full of hype after winning Lauderdale's colts best and fairest in 2023.

NEW NORFOLK

Coaching announcement: Dylan Ford has been appointed as the club’s new coach. He will be a playing coach.

Tyler Ford: A star of local footy, Ford returns to Boyer Oval after playing with Bothwell in the ODFA. Kicked 24 goals in one game in 2024 so expect him to be a dangerous threat inside 50 for the Eagles.

Hayden Moss: A big bodied forward and contested ruckman, Moss joins the Eagles from interstate. Played over 100 games with Willaston in the Barossa League in South Australia.

Jimmy Cook: Cook signed on with New Norfolk after playing a number of reserves games in 2023 while playing for Oatlands.

Jake Harris: A young talented midfielder, Harris is set to bring some spark to the Eagles engine room in 2023.

HOBART

Coaching announcement: Former senior premiership player Dan Gray has been appointed senior coach for 2024.

Jordyn Blizzard: Blizzard crosses to Hobart after time at Sorell.

Angus Digolis: Digolis returns to Hobart after stints with Sandy Bay and North Hobart. Was captain of the Demons under 18 side in 2023.

Isaak Hovington: A member of the 2017 colts premiership side, Hovington returns back to Hobart after playing with Richmond in the OSFA. A proven goalkicker, his addition will be a welcome one to the Tigers lineup.

Josh Spriggs: Returns to Hobart after a year off. Played seven senior games in 2018.

Trent Spriggs: Joins his brother back at the Tigers this season. Played 16 senior games for the club.
