Claremont is on the hunt for a new senior coach following the resignation of Nathan Brown on Wednesday.
The club took to social media to announce the news that the former premiership captain and 2015 William Leitch medallist had decided to end his tenure after two years.
“The Claremont Football Club are sad to announce the resignation of our senior coach Nathan Brown,” it read.
“As a highly decorated player, premiership captain, CFC life member and for the past two years, senior coach, to say we are grateful for all you have given to the Claremont Football Club and the wider CFC community would be an understatement.
“You stepped up and took the role of senior coach knowing it would be a huge undertaking and you gave it your all. You achieved some great things with the odds stacked against you and your dedication and passions is evident in all that you do.”
This masthead contacted the club on Wednesday about Brown’s status as coach and the reasons behind his departure, prior to their social media announcement, but failed to hear back.
A former powerhouse of the SFL, it’s been a tough two years for the Magpies who once dominated the competition in the mid 2010s that included back-to-back flags in 2015 and 2016.
Brown, who was an integral part of that success, returned to coach the club in 2022 and 2023.
They would win four games across those two seasons with fellow clubs New Norfolk and Hobart – who didn’t field a senior side last season – also struggling across that period.
In positive news for the club, former Clarence and Glenorchy TSL star Jake Cox signed on back in November last year to play this season.
