JUNIOR footy fans under 15 can get their hands on free general admission tickets to the North Melbourne and GWS Giants clash just by showing up at Blundstone Arena today.

There will be plenty of opportunities for the crowd to share in the Shinboner spirit, with an entertaining line up of family-friendly activities before and during the game.

Children can practise their handball and kicking skills at the McDonalds Family Fun Zone outside the Hurricanes Cafe, or head into the ground for a chance to take part in the kids’ mini-footy and wooden-spoon race.

There will also be a guernsey family relay race, merchandise giveaways and Kanga trivia.

Sandy Bay Lions Junior Football Club vice president Sean Stevenson yesterday said he expected a large number of girls and boys from the club to jump at the chance to attend.

“It’s incredibly important to have live AFL games in Tasmania because kids can only aspire to what they know,” he said.

“In an era where football participation in Tasmania is not as strong as it used to be, we need AFL games here to encourage kids to sign up and play.”
