Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell has been left “embarrassed” after he was reportedly sent to hospital in an ambulance after a night out in Adelaide on Friday.

Maxwell had made an appearance at a popular golf event in Adelaide’s CBD before heading to a pub where former Aussie bowler Brett Lee and his band Six and Out were performing.

7NEWS first reported the 35-year-old was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital from the venue in an ambulance.

Reports say he did not spend the night at the facility.

While it had initially been reported the all-rounder was set to come under investigation from Cricket Australia, Maxwell’s manager Ben Tippett revealed the truth by stating no investigation into the star was ever taking place.

“Glenn is a little embarrassed by the whole thing,” Tippett told The Age.

“He was a bit sore and sorry on Saturday, but he’s back in Melbourne and resumed training yesterday. He’s not under investigation by Cricket Australia.

“Maxi has spoken to (selector) George Bailey yesterday. We’ve spoken to them, they’ve spoken to us and it’s done.

“He’s back in training yesterday. He had time off for about a week after the Big Bash League and he is back into training.”

New details emerged on Tuesday with the Sydney Morning Herald reporting witnesses believe Maxwell was suffering from dehydration.

News Corp first reported “those close to Maxwell” said the cricketer had a “few beers in the sun” and that, along with the effects of dehydration, “caught up with him”.

The Australian cricketer is believed to have passed out as a result, with an ambulance then called.

Maxwell has been involved in other incidents in recent times that have resulted in injuries.

The explosive batsman suffered a concussion after falling off a golf cart during last year’s victorious World Cup campaign in India.

He also suffered a badly broken leg at a friend’s 50th birthday party in November, 2022.

It has now emerged there are concerns about Maxwell’s relationship with alcohol.

Former Aussie Test captain Michael Clarke said some of the details around Maxwell’s latest incident are worrying.

“To have to be put into an ambulance. That makes me nervous,” he said.

“With these sort of things, with off-field stuff. I like to go, ‘Benefit of the doubt and innocent until proven guilty’.

“One thing I know, Cricket Australia will get to the bottom of it. These days there’s cameras, there’s people. So the truth will be told.

“The other thing we need to do is making sure he’s OK. He didn’t end up spending the night there (in hospital). I can’t think of a time where I’ve had to call an ambulance or an ambulance had to be called for me, no matter how drunk I was.

“So I’m worried is there more to this and I just hope he’s OK first and foremost.”
