Maxwell had made an appearance at a popular golf event in Adelaide’s CBD before allegedly heading to a pub where former Aussie bowler Brett Lee and his band Six and Out were performing.

7NEWS reported the 35-year-old was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital from the venue in an ambulance.

Reports say he did not spend the night at the facility.

Maxwell, who was instrumental in Australia’s World Cup triumph late last year, is training with the Australian squad ahead of the T20 series against the West Indies in February.

Cricket Australia (CA) is aware of the incident and is launching an investigation.

“Cricket Australia is aware of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide at the weekend and is seeking further information,” CA said in a statement.

“It is not related to him being replaced in the ODI squad, a decision that was made following the BBL and based on his individual management plan.

“Maxwell is expected to return for the T20 series. No further comment will be made at this time.”

Australian and West Indies players were understood to have been in attendance on the evening in question but Maxwell came separately and didn’t arrive or leave in the same group.

Maxwell has been involved in other incidents in recent times that have resulted in injuries.

The explosive batsman suffered a concussion after falling off a golf cart during last year’s victorious World Cup campaign in India.

He also suffered a badly broken leg at a friend’s 50th birthday party in November, 2022.
